At Poipu Kai Resort

When visitors think of Hawaii they think of a place like Poipu Kai Resort. No Johnny come lately, Poipu Kai is a collection of 70 Hawaii villa homes and numerous condominium clusters located on a wonderful greenbelt of land that runs from the Hyatt Hotel Shipwreck Beach all the way west to the Brennecke's Beach cove on Poipu Beach Park. And from there to the Poipu, Kiahuna and Sheraton beaches.

In addition to the prestigious Hawaiian style homes, Poipu Kai Resort includes six pools, hot tubs, numerous tennis courts, community pavilions and a full service upscale restaurant called Poipu Grill. It’s a place all of the south shore comes for fresh fish and other delectable treats.

The houses and condos in Poipu Kai are well settled into the landscape which is mature and includes bird-of-paradise plants, plumeria flowers and palm trees. The grounds are very well kept walking from place to place, from beach to beach is smooth and easy.

While there are numerous homes for rent, the resort is also home to many full time residents; a sure sign that the area is safe and comfortable. Parking is convenient and the rental homes are well kept and are fully furnished often with hawaiian furniture, lighting and lanai furniture. Many have views through the green belt and out to the ocean.

These places include just everything you could want including fluffy bed and bath linens, kitchens with refrigerators, stoves and ovens plus a full compliment of pots, pans and dinner ware. They range in size from one bedroom one bath to larger condos and homes that can accompany up to 12 guests. But if you have a bigger family you can rent more than one and spend time together.

Poipu Kai's location is just about perfect. All beaches and restaurants in the Poipu Beach area are a just a walk away. There are world class golf courses, catamaran cruises, snorkeling, scuba diving, helicopter rides and just about every kind of activity your active life can command. You won’t run out of things to do.

You'll want to spend lots of time at the beach of course. Poipu Beach has been rated #1 Beach in America by Dr. Beach - aka Stephen Leatherman, Director of Florida International University’s Laboratory for Coastal Research. But even with that award the area is not crawling with tourists.

The Poipu Beach Park runs east west with grass, covered picnic areas, a children's play area and, of course, our wonderful crescent shaped beaches. Brennecke's Beach is a Mecca for body surfers and bogey boarders. More central is the true Poipu Beach Bay, a small round protected swimming area complete with a Keiki (toddler) swimming area. Further west is the Kiahuna beach which is larger and filled with surfers from dawn to dusk.

Most Poipu resorts are not on the water. And some are high up on rocky cliffs meaning it takes more time to walk to beaches. Poipu Kai is not directly on the beach but it provides the best access to both. You can also travel by car easily to the West side and the majestic Waimea Canyon, or East to the county seat of Lihue with all its convenient retailers. Or go further east to Kapaa Town or North to the planned resort of Princeville, Hanalei Bay and the stunning Napali Coast.
